Description
This gay landmark is next door to the site of the 1969 gay rebellion against police harassment. After a long closure, it’s been remodeled in a way that both preserves its historic dignity and strives to attract a new generation. It now has a decidedly collegiate feel; there’s a small stage for drag performances and occasional American Idol-type contests, with a more intimate dance space upstairs. The Stonewall Inn has been lovingly restored. This legendary gay bar, from whence "Stonewall Rebellion" heralds, is well worth a visit. The wall panels are lovely, the booths large and comfy, and there's plenty of room at the bar to hang with friends, or meet new ones. Welcome back, Stonewall!
