Sabina Les
Sabina Les has been designing for the past ten years—it’s just always been for other companies. Her long list of clients includes Nautica, Gap, Guess, Dollhouse, JLO and more. A steady gig always prevented her from following her dream of starting her own line. Six months ago when she was laid off, she thought, It’s now or never, and got to work on her debut collection. A self-proclaimed scarf junkie, she decided the versatile piece would be a good place to start, plus, “accessories just make you feel good,” she says. Les’s tissue-thin scarves feature eye-catching, hand-sketched prints that “combine the roughness of metals and the softness of silk,” she says describing the chain-link design that appears throughout the collection. She wants her line to be wearable, “not too avant-garde, but still interesting,” which she achieves via reptile-skin, leather and fishnet graphics along with various other trompe l’oeil elements.
