    • Don’t miss the second annual ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL when it returns to Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey Friday, July 31, Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2. Beastie Boys, Tool and Coldplay are set to headline the three-day, multi-stage music and arts festival. ALL POINTS WEST will also feature performances from Echo & The Bunnymen, My Bloody Valentine, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, MSTRKRFT, Gogol Bordello, The Black Keys, Fleet Foxes, Neko Case, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arctic Monkeys and more than 65 artists appearing throughout the 80-acre historic location that has panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Manhattan skyline. This year, the Queen of the Valley stage has been changed to a Coachella-like tent creating an environment that will showcase comedy, DJs, electronic acts and bands.     • Just like his CD, The Outlaw (Savant Records, 2006), Mr. Chambers’ performance at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, together with his versatile Outlaw Band, promises a superb mix of re-harmonized standards and jazz chestnuts, as well as some samba, Afro-Cuban grooves and straight-ahead jazz. See him perform with George Cables, Eric Alexander, Essiet Essiet & Steve Berrios Tuesday-Sunday, July 14-19, 2009 with sets at 7:30 and 9:30pm, and a special 11:30pm performance on Friday and Saturday. Plus, on Wednesday, July 15 - Meet Joe Chambers after his performances in Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola and have your purchased CDs signed. Joe Chambers, distinguished professor of jazz is one of the most notable drummers and percussionists of the sixties. One of the few house drummers on the Blue Note Record label, Mr. Chambers has recorded with such jazz greats as Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner and Chick Corea to name a few. A notable composer and arranger, Mr. Chambers has contributed to soundtracks for several Spike Lee movies, including Mo’ Better Blues.  In 2004 Mr. Chambers was commissioned to write an original score for the opening of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s new facility, Frederick P.     • Come celebrate the summer at Central Park SummerStage. City Parks Foundation’s Central Park SummerStage series is offering 31 free programs all throughout the long summer months. The first night’s performance on June 12 at 8 p.m. will be singer/songwriter Josh Ritter accompanied by the world-famous New York Pops. This year will have also have a SummerStage first: the Metropolitan Opera will be playing on July 13 at 8 p.m. as part of the Met’s Summer Recital Series. Also on August 14 and 15, Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company and Martha Wainwright will premiere a collaborative work. If classical isn’t your thing, though, don’t worry because indie rocker M. Ward (She & Him) will be performing along with Nels Cline (Wilco) and Mike Watt (the Minutemen), as well as performances for R&B and hip-hop fans.
