Description
The whiff of the hipster at Rye is undeniablenote the turn-of-the-20th-century decor and signless exterior. But this American bistro from chef Cal Elliott (Dressler) is unexpectedly egalitarian. The food is delicious and affordable: One starter featured grilled sardines over zingy preserved tomatoes on a slice of country bread. A butter-poached lobster special arrived with citrusy corn salsa, sweet corn flan and avocado mousse. Cocktails, meanwhile, featured both classic and original concoctions worthy of the antique setting.
