Description
The iced tea flows and Johnny Cash croons at this Southern-fried venture from Momofuku vet Joaquin Baca. Entrées far overshadow the junky apps: Shrimp and grits showcased two runny fried eggs over shellfish seared in bacon fat; a juicy half roasted chicken offered flavors both delicate (lemon, sage and thyme) and robust (rice, with curls of more bacon). Though dessert is still in development, the sole sweet—a seemingly improvised dish of fried strawberries served with vanilla ice cream—hinted at Baca’s promise.
