The low-ceilinged dining room at this sweet gem of a restaurant evokes a rustic wine cellar. But the real scene is in the vine-wrapped garden, where you can explore the Mediterranean-leaning menu by candlelight. It’s charmingly simple, with unfussy dishes like a cauliflower gratin baked with mild leeks, Gruyère and bread crumbs, and flank steak with roasted purple potatoes, grilled ramps and a smear of smoky romesco. By the time dessert arrives you can hear strains of music leaking in from the upstairs venue, Rose Live Music. No offense to the performers, but we prefer the act down below.
