Description
While converting a former check-cashing joint into a Williamsburg hangout, owners Billy Phelps and John McCormick added plenty of vintage everything: charming glowing exit lamps, old wooden tap handles, a nautical clock—you name it. The interior is the lure, but the low-priced eats keep diners interested. Warm lentil salad with fig-and-walnut croutons, roasted chicken dijonnaise and pork stew with hominy—all are as delicious as they are inexpensive. The intermittent rumbling of the J, M line adds to the ambience, as do the nightly live bands.
