Description
Blame consulting chef Mario Batali and talented toque April Bloomfield for the inevitable wait at this still-hopping West Village gastropub. The burger is a must-order: A top-secret blend of ground beef is grilled rare (unless otherwise requested), covered with a heap of Roquefort cheese and plated under a tower of rosemary- and garlic-kissed shoestring fries. What better to wash that down with than the Pigs proprietary cask-drawn ale? The best treat, however, comes last: spiced ginger cake with a dollop of whipped cream.

Ok...so the food's amazing. We had brunch and dinner there and its pretty much the best gastro food we've ever had if a little over priced. However, the service was a bit sub-standard in the evening and if your paying over $200 for a meal then I don't want to hear, "are you sure you still want the seasonal greens?" I wouldn't have ordered it if I didn't want it. Anyway, that aside...you have to try the cubano sandwich for brunch. Its the best sanwich I've ever had.
On holiday in New York recently (from England) we waited about three hours until after 11pm. I ordered the 'must order' burger but it was nowhere near as good as advertised. It was far too rich and left me feeling decidedly ill, the cheese certainly not helping. At least the beer lived up to expectation.
My sexy girls and me luv to visit this joint! It is definitely a gastropub for gastro girls like us! I wouldn't say we come here for the food but the hot guys looking to make conversations with us, seemingly spotting our every desires from across the room. Last time, these sexy guys picked up our entire check. Ooh, what an unequivocally timeless and adventurous night it became. - don't change a thing spotty pig.
Waited 1 hour and twenty minutes but we expected this. Had a few pints of the Spotted Pig bitter which was a good as any top cask beer back home in England. Downhill from there. Both had the burger which was presented well but flattered to decieve Thank God for the ketchup! Tables are so close that if you need the toilet it's a furniture moving exercise and you can't help but overhear the local clientelle attempting to impress each other. Pretentious and overpriced
We discovered this through a recommendation whilst shoe shopping and after visiting for lunch we had to return for dinner and we weren't disappointed. It really is a gem of a place and we'll certainly be back. The staff were fantastic and the food sublime.
