Description
A long marble bar and measly five tables make for sought-after real estate at this crowded spot, the latest from co-owners Michael Bull and chef Jody Williams (Morandi). More enoteca than restaurant, Gottino offers choice nibbles to go with the pricey all-Italian wine list (glasses start at $9). White apron–clad servers ferry memorable biteslike eye-poppingly tangy white anchovies and lady apples stuffed with meaty cotechino sausagefrom the bar to the table. Reserve room for the creamy fior di latte gelato, served with candied orange rinds. Its deliciousand definitely worth the wait for a seat.

Someone I'd been seeing for about a month took me to Gottino for our first "real" date. He could not have chosen a more perfect spot to wow me - our intimate little table, the delicious wine, and absolutely AMAZING food all contributed to a beautiful dining experience I'll never forget.
Last night my lover and I popped into Gottino for a little bite. I think Gottino is THE BEST Italian wine bar in NYC with their long marble bar. Jody Williams, the owner and former chef at Morandi, labels Gottino a “gastroteca,” which means she thinks the food is much better than any normal wine bar. I have to sort of disagree with that. The food was rich and heavy. She was right about "gas"troteca, I had gas all night long from eating okay food.
