Description
A new chef at the West Villages fashion-waif clubhouse, Bobo, has done little to improve its food. Patrick Connolly (previously of Radius in Boston) delivers an odd brand of kitchen-sink fusion featuring jarring combinations. Raw jalapeño comes draped atop a date in an amuse-bouche; red chilies are sprinkled with bacon and greens on a gluey gnocchi starter. Only the desserts, including an indulgent chocolate layer cake with salted caramel frosting, seem to be on the upswing. The downstairs bar area has been transformed into Bobos new den, but the multitude of fried offerings (all with a chalky aftertaste) and overcooked signature burger did little to seduce us.

Oohhh Bobo..... Ewww..... xx luvs
bobo disappoints, the food isn't worth mentioning.
I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary and wish I hadn't. Nothing there would ever make us go back, even if you paid us. The atmosphere, the service, the food, the drinks, nothing old meets new NY at all. Weird odors kept drifting in and out? We dine out a lot and Bobo isn't unique whatsoever. Thirty minutes to get our appetizers but ten minutes for our entree? After reading the bad reviews, I realized they were right!!! Warning: Don't GO TO BOBO!!!!!
I have to say I completely disagree with Time Out's Review. I have eaten a Bobo many times and the food is really very good. Yes it's a very trendy crowd but what's wrong with that? It's in the west village! I ate at Bobo prior to Chef Connolly's arrival and the food was unoriginal and not impressive. Since he has been there, the menu has been great. I have never read a review of Bobo that has been so inaccurate and personally suggest that whoever wrote this return for another meal.
You can knock it if you've tried it. We had a major case of food poisoning. Enough said.
eclectic? i wish. bobo is far from being eclectic. it's egregious, period.
I recently made reservations with Bobo after much hesitancy, but Chef Patrick Connolly made an excellent chicken with artichokes and herbs that I saw on BehindtheBurner.com, so I figured why the heck not. I haven't read the best reviews, but you can't knock it until you try it, right?
