Description
A prototypical UWS clientele calls chef Tom Valentis uptown stalwartone of the hoods most celebrated restaurantsits local canteen. And why not: Friendly servers ferry pitch-perfect cocktails and rich, Italian-inflected cuisine from the open kitchen to immensely comfortable round red booths that are reminiscent of Tilt-A-Whirls. Valenti adds some unexpected flourishes to this soothing formula. Salmon gravlax are served with a chickpea pancake topped with caviar and potent mustard oil, and house-smoked sturgeon tops frisée, lardons and a poached egg.
