Description
Travel from the southwest (of Manhattan) to this Southwestern haven. Former set designers Ken Tirado and Jim Stayoch created the Staten Fe look: faux-adobe walls, terra-cotta sconces and a kiva fireplace. It’s the perfect backdrop for New Mexican–inspired food such as soft corn tacos, steamed tamales and deep-fried minitacos filled with piquant ground chicken. The house favorite is beer-soaked “drunken shrimp” on top of rice flecked with herbs, onions, bacon, jalapeño and garlic. You should also take a nip from one of the 62 tequilas that fuel the lively bar scene.
