Description
Jean-Georges vet Josh Eden flies solo at this cozy neighborhood bistro—a worthy alternative to nearby Raoul’s. Though the ho-hum wine list needs work, Eden’s haute American menu is competent and consistent. The showstopping mac and cheese is topped with a panko-Gruyère crust, while short ribs appear braised and lavished with jus, or ground into a top-notch burger. Desserts don’t hit the same high notes, but no worries: Shorty’s isn’t the place for the full three-course buckle-loosener.
