      Description
The doorman at Muguette Siem A Sjoe’s condo can probably expect a decent holiday bonus: He introduced Siem A Sjoe, a clothing designer and aspiring restaurateur, to her business partner, veteran restaurant consultant Cenk Fikri; together the two have created a Park Slope café, Melt. The inside looks like a West Elm display: chocolate and white walls with C-shaped cutouts and serpentine bottle shelves. Chef Brian Bunger, formerly of Park Avenue Cafe, aims for creative American cooking that will stand out among the neighborhood’s typical bistro fare such as Berkshire pork tenderloin with polenta and crisp enoki mushrooms, and roasted chicken with pickled ramps.

My first experience at Melt was to try the $25 Tuesday tasting menu.I couldnt have been more pleased with the variety of selection and refined use of spices and natural flavorings. Most particularly, the soup starter. Clearly, the chef understands that the use of salt is to bring out the flavor of the ingredients and not be a flavor itself. The soups are creamy and sensual. The plates began as appetizer size with the last at dinner plate proportion. The deserts designed to satisfy at the end.

Best cafe in Park Slope. Five course tasting menu is incredible! #1 Kobe Hamburger in city. Terrific Martinis. Smart wine list.
