The 12 tables that occupy the dining room of the first stateside restaurant from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay are famously difficult to score. The menu hews close to that of Ramsay’s eponymous three-star flagship in London: French cuisine with international influences, served as either a three-course or seven-course prix fixe meal—with extra amuse-bouches and palate cleansers. Ramsay’s take on French cuisine is always interesting: The signature dish, cannon of lamb, is like a deconstructed stew; roast leg medallions and confit share the plate with candied onions, shallots, tomatoes and exotic spices. Desserts are just as important: The exceptionally fluffy apricot soufflé requires advance ordering, and a bonbon trolley peddled toothsome cotton candy, caramel popcorn and fruit jellies. Ramsay has delivered on the promises of his perfectionist TV alter ego.
