Description
The explanation for Rainbow Room’s staying power after more than70 years is clear: From the 65th floor, you have the ultimate view of Manhattan. At sunset in the Grill, tourists and well-heeled midtown types collect at the sleek Deco bar as a pianist plays jazzy numbers. Ifyou can tear yourself away from the skyline, you’ll be reminded that the Grill is now part of the Cipriani empire, which means impeccable white-suited waiters and a menu of wildly pricey, old-school NorthernItalian specialties that are high on quality but low on imagination. Classic ice-chilled shrimp cocktail comes with amazingly juicy-fresh jumbo shrimp. Pastas canbe heavy, like the green tagliolini mixed with slices of ham and cream, then baked. Entrées, such as two beef medallions served in a pepe verde sauce, are satisfyingly straightforward. This Rainbow is touristy, but the city would certainly lose some luster if it faded away.

we dined here last November and could not fault anything, the service was very good ,the staff were very knowledgeable and the food excellent. The views are exceptional. We were that impressed we are waiting to be able to book a table there for our visit in December this year.
