Description
Chef Josh DeChellis has made a career of cuisine hoppingfrom Japanese (Sumile, BarFry) to Italian (Jovia) and now over to Spanish at La Fonda del Sol, the glittering redux of a once fabled 1960s institution. Sadly, his food is as varied as his résumé. A shrimp cazuelitacrustaceans in blistering-hot garlic oilwas top-notch, but entrées like a dry suckling pig were simply wan. A fine apple tart with an almond crust was a crowd-pleasing dessert, but the bill that comes next (mains extend into the high $30s) might leave a bad taste in your mouth.
