Description
It sounds like an NYU students dream come true: a sleek eatery on 8th Street serving dishes for less than $10. Aptly named by combining the words cafeteria and Asia, this restaurant is filled with long, wooden communal tables and hundreds of candlesand serves a dizzying array of Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Malaysian dishes and Asian-inspired cocktails. As a neighborhood addition, Cafetasia is far more enticing than dorm food: Crying tiger sushi (tender slices of grilled flank steak laid over balls of chewy, multicolored sticky rice) beats mystery meat any day.
Hours
Mon–Thu, Sun 11am–11pm; Fri, Sat 11am–midnight.
Good food --- but watch the BILL. They DOUBLE-TIP themselves. On one bill, they include a 16% tip automatically, on the receipt that you sign, there is ANOTHER line for the tip -- so if you miss that they already included their own 16% tip, you will have indadvertently tipped again. They made up some story when we questioned it, going as far as accusing us of not tipping last time -- they did not recall the correct area of the restaurant we were in last, so this was BS.
