Despite the oak tables and other country touches, you are not in a meatball joint: Bottles of wine range from $45 to $395, and specials include a 22-ounce lobster catalana, steamed and served on a silver platter with shallots and julienned fenneland celery. The pasta puttanesca, generous with capers and sardines, is not afraid to be fishy (in a good way). Desserts include a shake of mango and vanilla ice cream with crème de cassis. Famous models, actors and literati continue to flock here, although getting a seat has been easier since the opening of Da Silvano Next Door, a less chichi—though still pricey—brother.
