Description
You’ll need liquid courage at Liquiteria—at least if you’re planning on braving their sandwiches. One, described as “New York’s best kept secret,” features browned avocado, flavorless soy cheese and pink tomato rounds on a soggy whole-grain roll. The only savior on the menu may be the portobello sandwich, topped with tart goat cheese and roasted red peppers. Smoothies are a better bet: The indelicately named “Royal Flush” packs a gingery punch, and “Peaches-N-Dream” has a pleasant cinnamon bite. Don’t take a date here: the stool-filled interior has all the charm of a Gray’s Papaya.

Wow I could not disagree more with this "description"---the smoothies at Liquiteria are by far the best I've had in the city--always the freshest ingredients and very creative combinations! They also make fresh pressed juices--Royal Flush is a JUICE, not a smoothie, and it is the perfect antidote for a bad hangover! Don't know why anyone would even mention the food which every Liquiteria-lover (and probably even the staff) knows is sub-par. The name is LIQUITERIA. The food here is not the point.
