Description
The second outpost of Californian chef Govind Armstrongs Table 8 (the other locations are in Miami Beach and Los Angeles) commits countless sins against good taste. The bizarre flavor pairings (a disastrous foie gras with cocoa nibs and grapefruit), confluence of irksome trends (a too-long menu and tiny small plates) and overly busy entrées (grilled chicken atop short-rib hash with wilted arugula) make the place feel about as au courant as white truffle oil. Desserts from pastry chef Theodore Kanellopouloslike pillowy beignets topped with earthy Greek honeyare the real (and only) stars of this show.
