Description
The Yankee fish shack formula is on full display at this wharfy eatery, with knobby wood panels blanketing the walls, ceiling and floor. Unfortunately, the food falls short. Fish-and-chips featured haddock in a craggy, beer-battered crust that tasted uncannily of oyster crackers, with dehydrated fries. A scallop pan roast—plump mollusks and a chowderlike sauce—was frustratingly bland. Butcher Bay is an excellent setting for oysters and a frosty beer—but the rest of the fare needs an upgrade before we’d consider dropping anchor.
