Description
A solid Italian-Mexican fusion eatery would have been a lovely addition to the East Village...if it had been any good. The doorway, draped in a hot-pink animal print, exhibited the first sign of questionable taste. The fare was equally dubious, including a sloppy plate of pecorino and huitlacoche fusion nachosand a dry, too-spicy lamb shank. But Matildas greatest weakness was its staff. A server faced with a simple request for a receipt strutted off toward the kitchen snarling, At-ti-tude! Attitude, indeed.

I agree with everyone except for the reviewer. I just brunched there with my brother's family, including my sister-in-law who is a chef, and we were all bowled over. Every morsel was delectable. Forgive me for not remembering the names of the dishes--there was a tostada with white beans and shrimp, spaghetti with calamari and prosciutto, some sides, salads, desserts (oh. my. word.) and even my 3 year old nephew's very plain eggs and french fries were so wonderful we couldn't stop picking.
Absolutely amazing place! The food, the staff and the interior design are fabulous... The review is entirely inappropriate it calls for a street insurgency. Not only the reviewer lacks basic taste in food and design, but it makes me wonder if it is in fact the delegated authority the one who actually visited the place... Shame on you TONY! Prosejitos, gnocchi, Taco alla Fiorentina and the deserts are simply exquisite! Great job, Maristrella and Esteban!
I too agree that this reviewer is off their gord. We eat at this restaurant at least 2 times a week. Maristella the owner is lovely and has created a warm and welcoming place with delicious food.
I strongly disagree with this review as well. Shame on your time out NY! This place is great and the best part is the staff! The owners Maristella (well known from her menu at I Coppi, the tuscan rest. on E 9th Street) and Esteban are the nicest people imaginable and have put their heart and soul into this restaurant and you can feel it. This is a fun restaurant...a fusion of tusc-mex which exemplifies the creative eateries tha New York City has to offer.
Disagree with your review in the strongest possible terms. Highly unfair, and not reflective of the quality of the menu, or the preparation, or the decor. The review is so off, it calls into question whether your reviewers are truly unbiased.
