Description
Your waiter parades the roasted duck past your party beforeplacing it on the center show table. A chef brandishes his knives dramatically, then slices the aromatic, crisp-skinned, succulent meat with great flair. Folks at other tables drool with envy. (Dont they know that this establishment doesnt require you to order the specialty in advance? Pity.) Select the three-way, and your duck will yield the main course (complete with pancakes and plum sauce for rolling up the goods), a vegetable stir-fry with leftover bits of meat and a cabbage soup made with the remaining bone. Yes, the menu lists many dishes besides Peking duck, but reading it will only delay the inevitable.
Hours
Mon–Thu, Sun 11:30am–10:30pm; Fri, Sat 11:45am–11pm.
Peking Duck! The best I ever had compare to the ones I had in Hong Kong /China. The Peking Duck is prepared authentically! The Peking Duck was brought out whole to our table to show us for approval. The chef actually comes out to the center carving table & carves the duck in our view. The waiter (excellent service!) wraps the the duck in the genuine chinese moo shu type wrap (yummy!!) . The duck skin is crisp, most of the fat melted away, meat tender &juicy! Other dishes comparable good!!
Worst part is the duck was $40 and they didn't even use authentic wrap. They gave us some SOFT TACO WRAP! This place is a WASTE OF MONEY, Discrimination! POOR SERVICE, HORRIBLE FOOD! You want good DUCK? GO to BIG WONG just down the street towards CANAL. You want AUTHENTIC CHINESE? GO to WO HOP down the street towards BOWERY. AVOID THIS PLACE!
While all the other tables around us got served tea and placed their order. We almost walked out at this point and SHOULD"VE! A waiter came over really upset and took our order. At this point we figured out we were the real sitting ducks, the real fools of chinatown going to a resturant that was designed for tourist and nothing more. The food finally came and it couldn't be any worst! The food is compared to a chinese fast food restaurant, there's no difference.
I always wanted to try this place, Let me first by telling you, we made reservations. When my party arrive they proceeded to get us downstairs into the basement. The basement Stinks! It smells like OLD humid air. There were no one else in the basement besides us, and there were open tables upstairs. (yes we are asian). I proceeded to ask the host if we can be seated upstairs, after alot of talk and some discomfort, they cram us into a small table and just ignored us for a good 20 minutes.
