If you can get past the American-fast-food-chain look of the place (brushed-steel tables and chairs, picture menus above the register, a brigade of condiments), there is plenty of güdtfood to be had here. You’ll find frites and beignets on the menu (the F and B of this Eurocentric minichain), and the food is much more healthful than the decor suggests: The more than two dozen varieties of hot dogs (available at the 52nd Street location only) are steamed and the faultlessly crisp, golden pommes frites (choose from regular or sweet potato) are cooked in trans-fat–free sunflower oil and paired with zesty dipping sauces like garlic aioli and sweet Thai chili. And we have to tip our Eurotrash hat to the place for putting a $150 bottle of Dom Perignon on the menu. That’s our kind of supersizing.
