Description
The tiny kitchen at this Carroll Gardens spot turns out an impressive selection of eats: 11 types of cheese, ten salads, seven sandwiches, five cured meats, three soups and all sorts of vegetables: roasted cauliflower, butternut squash, Jerusalem artichokes and brussels sprouts. The meats, however, are the driving force behind Frankie’s instant success in the neighborhood: pork braciola, cavatelli with hot sausage and browned sage butter, and delicious plain ol’ meatballs. Do it here: A former stable has been converted into a private party patio with a set of turntables (bring your own DJ) and a roasting pit—Kate Hudson celebrated her 26th birthday here.

I received a cold and strange welcome from the staff, one which verged on the reception I expected upon arriving to a guest haus in the Alps. Loganberry Scramble cocktail - disgusting. It did disappoint. Their food and wine/beer list reflects the German-Austro country-style theme with some awful selections. Bibb lettuce with pumpkin seeds and radish? Spaetzle that was seemingly soggy, the hunters sausage was very gamey. Frankies 457 isn't fully self-sustainable. What a shame!
