Description
Chef Abdhul Traore, an Ivory Coast native, has recast the former Bouillabaisse 126 as aFrench-African eatery. The two culinary cultures surface in dishes like the seafood Grand Bassam, which offers shrimp, scallops and other shellfish in a lightly spiced tomato broth, francofied by a pistachio-rouille–topped crouton. Gallic tips-of-the-hat include a starter of escargot, the soft critters nestled in a heady Pernod–red-wine sauce. Desserts straddle the same geographic lines: A moist, corn-bread-like millet cake shares billing with a (middling) strawberry tart.
