Description
In the midst of all the vodka-lubricated supper clubs of Brighton Beach, this Ukrainian-Russian neighborhood joint, adorned with folk costumes, babushkas and random tchotchke, churns out tasty peasant fare to satisfy most carnivorous cravings. Potatoes or buckwheat kasha and a salad accompany all the hefty entrées—from chicken gizzards stew to kebabs and beef Stroganoff, but what really leads the pack on the bilingual menu are the pelmeni and vareniki, small steamed dumplings stuffed with anything from veal and sour cherries to farmer cheese and pork-beef combo.
