Description
To complement the pilgrimage of rent refugees to Astoria, chef-driven bistros have moved in alongside the celebrated ethnic dives. Aces is an exemplar of this new genre with a minimalist but sexy glittering red bar and shadowy dining room. Co-owner Miguel Aranda (Country, Town) concocts his own syrups and infusions for creative cocktails like cinnamon mojitos, while partner Daniel Huerta (Town, Josie’s, Josephina) enlivens market-savvy cuisine with Latin American sauces (peppery mole. on melting short ribs, sweet corn on luscious pan-seared scallops) and South of the Border sides (plantains, huitlacoche).
