TONY is currently looking for a talented and experienced Market Editor to helm the launch of our new Shopping and Style section. This person will help the Editor decide what to cover in the fashion and home design fields in our weekly magazine. S/he will research, write and manage features and listings for both print and online spaces, and will manage a team to assist in these areas.
Our Market Editor must have a thorough understanding of fashion and home design, yet be able to translate his/her knowledge into the Time Out brand. We feature products that are attainable, yet affordable…and geared toward an active audience consisting of readers age 18-34.
This person must also possess a strong sense of what looks good (layout- and photography-wise),
The ability of the Market Editor to bring to the table brilliant ideas on how to broaden the scope and better the functionality of the online piece is critical.
Professional Requirements:
• 3-5 years’ editorial experience at a print publication
• 3-5 years’ fashion industry experience
• 1-2 years’ online editorial experience
• BA or BS in Fashion or Media
• Strong knowledge of new NYC stores, men's and women's designers, brands and lines, accessories and shoes, new designers
• Solid fashion industry contacts
• Experience selecting clothes for photo models and shoots
• Possess fashion-forward taste
• Ability to generate feature ideas and sidebars on a weekly basis
• Must be a fast writer/editor with solid reporting skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with tight budgets
• Willingness to put in long hours, as necessary
