Sacramento’s Papa Roach is often lumped in with the nu-metal crowd, but the band’s sound is even more innocuous than that description might imply. The best substitute we can come up with is alt arena rock: blandly anthemic, wildly overproduced and stubbornly vapid in its account of the “edgy” rock & roll lifestyle. Still, that hasn’t stopped ’em from selling 10 million records worldwide, the latest being Metamorphosis. This double-headliner tour pairs the band with Aussie four-piece Jet, whose complexity pretty much begins and ends in its members expertly layered haircuts. Expect to hear from Jet’s new disc, Shaka Rock, as well as hits like “Cold Hard Bitch.” Also onboard is slick, dancey, female-fronted pop-rock crew Morningwood, supporting its new sophomore effort, Diamonds & Studs.
