As supergroups go, Tinted Windows isn’t really all that super. After all, to what segment of the population does an ultrapeppy power-pop band featuring Taylor “MMMBop” Hanson, former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Fountains of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger and Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos come off as particularly mouthwatering? The combo works better than you’d expect, though the band shows so little range on its self-titled debut full-length that the project might have worked better as a one-off single. Helping fill out the bill is smart-pop ace Mike Viola, of the Candy Butchers.
