Once was one of 2007's great sleeper successes, which is to say the movie made, like, $9. Okay, so it was more like $9 million, but in a just world it would be ten times that amount. It's a beautiful, romantic film and one of the most honest movies about making music ever produced, driven in no small part by the songs written by Glen Hansard (of the Frames) and costar-partner Markéta Irglová. The two perform as the Swell Season, and since constant touring failed to make the Frames stars in the States, there's no reason to think it'll happen under this guise, either. That leaves them our little secret to making life that much more bearable. The always-enjoyable Martha Wainwright opens. Please note that Blue Ribbon Glee Club opens Saturday only.
