I just caught Veveritse Brass Band. I had been looking forward to the Slavic Soul Party for a few months.The vibe was tremendous, but the percussion section was atrocious. Given that Veveritse plays percussive, rhythmic Balkan music, this was a surprise. A surprisingly poor act for the extraordinary mainstays at Barbes. They need to get in the rehearsal space and practice. I don't plan on coming back for it, though.
