Description
The score of this 1981 R&B musical—the tale of a Supremes-like 1960s vocal trio (played by Moya Angela, the lovely Syesha Mercado and the lively Adrienne Warren)—is not all first-rate, and Robert Longbottom’s direction lacks finesse. But the weaknesses melt away under the heat of the show’s standout songs, especially as performed by the vocally formidable Angela and the extraordinary Chester Gregory.
