Oh, the Humanity and other exclamations
Description
The characters that inhabit the five bleakly funny playlets of Will Eno’s dazzlingly literate anthology are ordinary stiffs given to lyrical existentialist crises: They unfold before us like pages of a book you can’t wait to reread and share with your friends. In Jim Simpson’s appropriately spare production, Eno’s wittily heartsick dialogue is rendered by Christina Kirk and the excellent Brian Hutchison. Vivid as it may be in print, Eno’s gallows humor truly comes alive in its execution.—AF
