Things of Dry Hours
Description
Delroy Lindo stars in Naomi Wallace’s gorgeously written and philosophically rich celebration of a black Communist agitator in the Depression-era South. Roslyn Ruff plays his widowed daughter, and Garrett Dillahunt is a white-trash factory worker on the lam. Wallace weaves together these proud, lonely souls with language rich in metaphor and, at times, as hard and piercing as a handful of nails—though it is not perfectly served by Ruben Santiago-Hudson’s overly somber, gray and measured production.—DC
