Description
A blind date stumbles badly in Gina Gionfriddo’s hawkeyed comedy about love, honesty and responsibility. As the brutally candid Max, the excellent David Wilson Barnes gets the bulk of Gionfriddo’s acid-tipped one-liners (this may be the funniest play of the season), and Annie Parisse is perfectly cast as a wounded bird whose beak is unexpectedly sharp. The complicated characters may behave poorly, but Gionfriddo doesn’t lapse into misanthropy.—AFWhen
