Dirty Projectors + tUnE-yArDs + Cale Parks
Description
In a mere five years, Dave Longstreth has gone from writing obscuro concept albums about Don Henley, to composing for Björk and David Byrne and having his songs covered by Beyonce’s little sister (check out Solange’s “Stillness is the Move”). Thanks to the Longstreth’s latest album, Bitte Orca, 2009 is undoubtedly Dirty Projectors’ year; the record combines multilayered harmonies, R&B beats and Zep-style riffs. What’s more, the band can pull it off live. The one-woman band tUnE-yArDs, whose BiRd-BrAiNs may prove one of the year’s strangest and most beguiling records, also plays; her every song seems born in some enchanted junkyard.
