Description
Here’s some deft cultural programming for a blustery December night: several hours of Brazilian all-stars and fellow travelers in rhythm—from such hot spots of tropicalia as Sweden—celebrating the effusive, tummy-warming legacy of 1970s samba soul. Among the ranks of Kassin +2 is Moreno Veloso, a multi-instrumentalist who has credibly etched a sound beyond his famous father Caetano’s shadow. Likewise, Bebel Gilberto has honored the family name by recasting her father João’s innovation—a little something called bossa nova—in the context of latter-day lounge and electronic pop.
