Photosynthesis
Description
*** [THREE STARS] Photosynthesis charts the beginning of a romance between two nervous and issue-riddled characters, and it plays out much like a relationship: light, fun and swift in the beginning, with conflicts weighing it down as time goes on. Much of the play's energy comes from dialogue among unusual characters: the male lead's dog, a pit bull from Haiti with a stereotypical French accent and odd French attire; and the female lead's aggressive cat, depressed rug, sexualized bed and stuck-up plant—who literally come to life with witty banter and amusing arguments. They shed light on their owners’ issues, but when the lovers verbalize their own problems, the play gets bogged down: Their chemistry never fully overcomes their petty differences. Still, Tim MacMillan’s heartfelt script is endearing; and if at times you don't feel much sympathy for the odd couple at its core, you do wind up—like their chatterbox possessions—hoping that they'll figure things out in the end.— Jackie Bischof, TONY guides intern

This was the most ridiculous play I've ever seen. the writing was so bad - I've never heard people talk like this and the play was so unfinished. the lead actor seemed to have a lot of trouble remembering his lines too. I felt sorry for these actors. sorry - it's just not good.
I was blown away when I left the theatre. I have never seen script so clever and colorful! The cast gave me a Broadway performance and the direction kept me laughing and delighted through out the entire show. I've often wondered about what my bed and the rest of my apartment says about me. I've seen some hard to watch theatre in the Fringe before but this did not feel like a Fringe play. It was an off-Broadway run for $15. Go see this show!
Very funny show! A great concept giving the animals and inanimate objects a voice. One of the actors had a little trouble with lines and appeared to have skipped ahead a bit, but Ms Britt covered very well. I had a great time. Go see it if you can.
Don't waste your money. the performances are caricatures and over the top. I felt sorry for Colleen Britt who struggles to survive in this play that has no depth or sense of structure.
