Description
The hippies have taken over the Hirschfeld; you can be sure they’ll be squatting on West 45th for quite some time. Director Diane Paulus transfers the ecstatic, rock-driven 1968 musical from its successful revival last summer in Central Park to indoors. If anything, being inside amps up the energy and excitement. Gavin Creel is sweetly superb as the conflicted Claude, and Will Swenson radiates a thousand watts of bad-boy charisma.
