A New Literary History of America is a new anthology of 225 new essays covering culture and events from the year 1507, when the word America first appeared on a map, up to the near present. Topics covered include: the invention of the blues (written by Luc Sante), Norman Mailer (by Mary Gaitskill), Dr. Seuss, Barack Obama (captured here by artist Kara Walker) and much more. Tonight, editors Greil Marcus and Werner Sollors discuss the book with contributors Ann Marlowe, John Rockwell and Stephanie Zacharek.
