Description
P.J. Clarke’s has been a beloved saloon since 1884, but the hard-drinking hacks, pols, molls and palookas of yore have been supplanted by Prada-briefcased execs, cashmere-clad couples and baseball-capped buddies. Restored to vintage perfection by a partnership that includes George Steinbrenner and actor Timothy Hutton, Clarke’s draws the likes of Johnny Depp and Bill Murray. Bartenders are polite, pours are generous and the chow is good Must-peeks: the Tiffany stained glass in the men’s room and the cozy dining alcove, where Renée Zellweger, Ashley Judd and Salma Hayek order steak to amp up their real-girl cred.
