Review: One Fall
An ex-con becomes a miracle worker in this so-so drama.
Returning home from prison, James Bond (Fuller)—no, not that James Bond—begins to stir up his small town when he visits the local hospital and starts miraculously healing everyone in sight. Writer, director and star Fuller posits a dichotomy between belief and scientific rationality, only to gull us into accepting the former. That is, until Bond’s powers start to fail him and the picture gets considerably more interesting. It’s too bad, then, that the film ends up reducing its hero’s struggle (and bad attitude) to a single past trauma and its resultant daddy issues.
