Celebrity tattoo artist Friday Jones coined the term couture tattoo upon opening the first-ever studio inside a full-service salon and spa. Looking down upon Fifth Avenue, New Yorkers can get inked, pampered and styled all on the same day. Nervous about the needles? If the complimentary wine doesn’t calm you, there’s still hope: Jones is the first (and only) studio in the world to partner with a doctor offering anesthesia—even Vicodin. A bespoke tattoo—Jones customizes each and every design—starts at $125 for women and $250 for men. Senses NY Salon & Spa, 138 Fifth Ave between 18th and 19th Sts, second floor (212-242-7979)—Rachel LeWinter

there's a reason the anesthesia hasn't been done at shops the hundreds of years tattooing's been around. This sounds like a trainwreck waiting to happen. And offering booze before hand is the most irresponsible thing I have ever imagined. buyer beware.
hmmm anesthesia is not risk-free at all, not something to be taken lightly especially for something as endurable as a tattoo - they better have some serious insurance at that shop - also i wouldn't recommend alchohol either, it makes you blood run thinner and drunk people are no fun to tattoo...
