    Fall favorites

Everyone has a few pieces in the closet that withstand the tempest of fleeting trends. We asked eight New Yorkers (who know a thing or two about style) what they can’t wait to put on when the leaves turn.

“This ’70s-era faux-fur jacket was my dad’s. I started wearing it in high school when he passed away and have worn it ever since. The boots are from a ski store—I call them my wookie boots. I’ve had kids make Chewbacca sounds at me walking down the street when I wear them. I don’t get offended though, I think it’s more like recognition.”

    Associate editor,

“My mom bought me this sweater when I was in college. It’s got a turtle/cowl-neck hybrid—there’s a lot of loose neck fabric. When the wind starts stinging, it’s really satisfying to pull it up over my face.”
