Let's get it on...
Get Naked
Julia Weldon, 26; singer-songwriter; Prospect Heights, Brooklyn
Says Julia: “I have a lot to give. I’m creative, caring and charming. I’m into chivalry without condescension. I’m a scattered artistic/creative type, but I’ve been told it’s endearing. I’m generally easygoing and love to have a good time at the movies, a concert, a party or just relaxing on a Sunday morning. Oh yeah, I’m also an expert cuddler.”
What Julia wants: “I’m looking for a sweet girl with a bit of edge. I like to party when I play shows, but I’m also into someone who likes to order in, cuddle, make out and watch a good artsy film. I love a good sense of humor and the desire to learn and travel as much as possible. And of course, I’m looking for someone who can appreciate my music and ambition, and who likes to go to shows!”
Julia’s top five favorite albums: Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago; Elliot Smith’s Either/Or; Cat Power’s You Are Free; Jay-Z’s The Black Album; and the Pixies’ Surfer Rosa
About her music: “I’m a guitarist/songwriter who likes rooftops and cornfields and all the people in between. My songs range from soft, melancholic melodies to more percussive folk-rock. They are lyrically driven and conveyed through an open, honest and raw voice.”
See her live: Julia plays Don Hill’s (511 Greenwich St at Spring St, 212-219-2850) on July 16 and Banjo Jim’s (700 E 9th St at Ave C, 212-777-0869) on July 31.

I saw Julia play a set at Pianos and I was really impressed. Her lyrics are thoughtful. She is mature beyond her influences. She can sing the blues while maintaining her signature slow-burning vocal delivery.
