A certain other Cheap Eats issue this week features the foods of New York, but comes with a punch line: "all* for under $25." And then at the asterisk: "*Okay, almost all."
$25? Cheap?
Last time we checked, a $16 sandwich from Le Cirque ("as God intended, with a fine glass of the best Meursault") is not cheap.

I am quite sick of Time Out saying "every neighborhood" and then not listing one in the bronx. I guess since there are no yuppies living there...it doesn't count as a neighborhood. Typically Time Out and very Ignorant.
Wow, no cheap eats for South Queens. I guess they couldn't find a writer for Jamaica Queens. Yeah Right!
I like the list but it just doesn't have enough resources. And, TONY seems to list lots of places where you can only get one or two items on the menu for $10. I'm partial to www.CHEAPEATERY.COM. They have thousands of searchable cheap eats menus and reviews. There's even a special search option to find Super Cheap Eateries that have meals for under $6. I found my favorite restaurant there: http://www.cheapeatery.com/restaurants/tehuitzingo/menu/
ehi, I found really good tips here! I will collect them all for my trip along with www.flashbooking.com NYC guide and lonelyplanet! thanks!
Nice dig at the "other" Cheap Eats! :)
THANK YOU time out seriously!! I read that NY Mag article and laughed at how completely out of touch they are...I mean that was the most ridiculous list of "cheap eats" suggestions it was appalling. I was seriously pissed. i'm thankful I can count on you guys to actually give us real usable info, as apparently NY Mag has completely lost touch with the rest of NYC.
Apparently this issue is devoted to cheap eats, not good cheap eats. I'm not sure why you included places you hated (i.e. the Cobble Hill Lobo). That said, it's still a better list than the trendy and pricey eats issue put out by your competitor.
finally! a reliable resource for ACTUAL new york cheap eats. I felt really let down by other "New York Magazine" s (whose name i won't mention) who claim to provide cheap eats but end up just giving eats. keep up the good work Time Out!
