      Kitchen report 2008

NYC chefs tell all! Sex, scandals and secrets—40 top toques spill it.

      Chef secrets...spilled!
Forty of the city’s star chefs (we’ll never tell who) dish the kitchen dirt on hot topics. Amid sex, alcohol and McDonald’s hamburgers, we (re)confirmed what you always suspected: New York City toques are some seriously saucy mofos.

      Kitchen quintessential
Beyond the swinging door lies a fast-paced world of sweat, stress and chaos. To unlock those mysterious inner workings, TONY surveyed the staff in action at five city restaurants.

      How it works
Good timing and communication: They’re the unsung kitchen skills that ensure your table’s meals all arrive together.

i am in the same position, my ex fiance chef banged an ugly waitress from his hotel bar and i called off the wedding. The restaurant industry is full of sex.

Of the 50% of your chefs who claimed to have banged a co-worker...how many of them were cheating on significant others? My chef ex banged some nasty waitress at his restaurant and I kicked his sorry ass out. Until that moment I dreamed of us opening up a great little restaurant together and raising our kids in the kitchen. Now I can't even stomach a meal in a restaurant anymore. Thanks Time Out, for reminding me that all restaurants are really just cesspools of grief, greed and despair.

I don't work in the restaurant business and I don't eat out that often, but I was happy to see restaurant staff sound off about customers. People who send their food back and complain and demand to see the manager ruin the experience for everyone. I think the service industry puts up with too much crap in general. People who complain should go somewhere else.

line cooks have to cover their hair even if they're bald.... so, what happens with all the hair in the beard of a mashgiach?!
